Urgent submissions needed for Green Growth Plan

The “Perth and Peel Green Growth Plan for 3.5 million” (GGP) that is currently being proposed by the Western Australian (WA) State Government. While this new proposal does acknowledge the Carnaby’s cockatoo specifically and is planning offset habitat planting for them, we at Kaarakin believe that the overall plan needs to be extensively reviewed. We are extremely concerned for the future of all of WA’s endemic black cockatoo species if this plan is allowed to go ahead in its current format. While the GGP does provide 90,000 ha of conservation reserve, most of this is already in currently standing Bush Forever and Regional Park.

For more information about this issue and how to make a submission, see Kaarakin’s Facebook page.

Note that submissions close at 5pm on Friday 8 April 2016.

We urge all of our followers to share this message and submit your own thoughts on the Green Growth Plan to the State Government.
