    Kimba is a true lady’s man and will endeavour to impress visitors and volunteers alike by showing off his incredible crest and bright red tail. In November 2019, the public voted for Kimba to receive the Best Crest Title. He is our Crest Titan for 2019-2020!

  • Randy Forest Red Tail Cockatoo

    Randy

    Randy arrived at Kaarakin in 2009 as a mature red-tailed black cockatoo. He is a fluffy boy and is always eager to claim a visitor’s shoulder and sit there watching the world go by.

  • Katanning

    Katanning is one of the earliest residents of Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre. He is always excited to see his “special” volunteers, and he can often be heard whistling happily as they sort the fruit and vegetables for Kaarakin’s residents.

  • Queenslander

    Queenslander was found during the 2011 floods in south-east Queensland when he was seen walking down a Brisbane road. As a Carnaby’s cockatoo and a native of the south-west of Western Australia, he was a long way from home!

    Opal was found in 2015 as a weak fledgling in Marrickville Park, New South Wales.  She came to Western Australia thanks to a crowdfunding campaign, and has quickly bonded with Kaarakin yellow-tails Abby and Alex.

    Terry loves to watch our Kaarakin volunteers working hard in the interactive aviary, although she also likes to take things back out of the bin and make a mess!

    Denmark is one of the few talkers at Kaarakin. He has had several TV appearances and has helped to highlight the amazing work done by Perth Zoo’s talented vets.

    Betty was rescued as a fledgling. She is best friends with Ozzie, our other inland red-tail, and she loves sitting quietly on your shoulder while Ozzie gets all the attention!

    Amy is a resident Alpine dingo at Kaarakin, the sister of Alex. She is very affectionate and loves meeting visitors during our tour weekends, as well as her daily walks.
