Come and see our work with Western Australia’s native black cockatoos.

Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre had two tour weekends during the year. We also have smaller events planned throughout the year such as Junior Keepers Club and Bird Bonanza events. Remember to sign up to our newsletter to receive our next event dates directly in your inbox!

Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre is located in the Banyowla Regional Park at Martin in the Perth hills, on the 16-hectare site of a former wildlife park.  Since 2008, we have worked hard to transform the site as a resource for the rehabilitation and conservation of our wild black cockatoos and other native animals, in keeping with its natural bush setting.

Although our facilities at Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre are usually closed to the public, you can come to one of our Tour Days and see us in action.

At our upcoming tour days, you’ll be able to walk through the grounds of the Centre and see how we are working hard to protect and rehabilitate our native wild black cockatoo species. You can even enter our purpose-built interactive aviary and get up close with some of our black cockatoos.

  • Each tour is conducted in the presence of a trained Kaarakin guide. Self-guided tours are not available, and tour participants will not be permitted to leave a tour group unaccompanied by a Kaarakin guide or volunteer.

  • The tour is conducted through an operational wildlife rehabilitation facility, and will involve walking over uneven ground with slip hazards including Marri nuts (which our cockatoos love!), pebbles, and sticks. Although Kaarakin makes every effort to ensure a safe environment, tour participants agree that to the extent permissible by law, Kaarakin cannot be held liable for any loss or injury suffered by any tour participant whilst on Kaarakin’s premises or in the course of participating in a tour.
