Kaarakin Private Tours – Available now!

Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre is located in the Banyowla Regional Park at Martin in the Perth hills, on the 16-hectare site of a former wildlife park.  Since 2008, we have worked hard to transform the site as a resource for the rehabilitation and conservation of our wild black cockatoos and other native animals, in keeping with its natural bush setting.

The Kaarakin site is also home to the Australian Threatened Species Centre, who care for Alpine and Pilbara dingoes in a custom-built wild enclosure.  There are also a number of former wildlife park residents including kangaroos, emus, and peacocks.

You may know about Kaarakin’s tour days that are held in May and October every year, but did you know that you can also book a private tour at any time throughout the year* by appointment?  There are options for everyone.

Tour options – available all year round*

Full Private Tour – $150 per group, 1 hour duration*

You will be shown around the Kaarakin site and hear about our efforts to rescue, rehabilitate and release injured, sick and orphaned black cockatoos. You will see the many purpose built aviaries onsite, including our 64-metre pre-release flight aviary.

A highlight of the tour for many of our visitors is a visit to ‘Jack’s Interactive Aviary’, here you will be able to get up close and personal with our friendly black cockatoo characters as they try to get your attention with their amusing antics.

The cost for a private tour is $150.00 for 1 – 10 people, with additional persons charged at $15.00 per head. Many people book to come in small personalised groups of 2 – 4 people, while others come with a larger group.

Black Cockatoo Encounter – $50 per person, 30 minutes duration*

Ideal for groups of 1 – 3 people. You will spend up to 30 minutes in ‘Jack’s Interactive Aviary’ with our friendly resident black cockatoos. The cockatoos in this aviary are our ‘ambassador birds’ for Kaarakin. These highly intelligent birds are unable to be released due to being unable to fend for themselves in the wild, so they spend their days in comfort in our giant aviary. They are a cute and crazy bunch who love nothing better than to meet new friends!

Dingo Encounter – $50 per person, 30 minutes duration*

Ideal for groups of 1 – 3 people. You will spend up to 30 minutes with our friendly Alpine dingoes getting to know their individual personalities. They are very affectionate and enjoy spending time with visitors and their carers.
