Your very own private tour at Kaarakin – one of Perth hills’ most unique wildlife parks, specialising in the rescue, rehabilitation and release of endemic black cockatoos. During a personally guided walk, you can:

  • Learn about our black cockatoo rehabilitation program from rescue to release back into the wild.
  • Meet some resident black cockatoos. These birds would have trouble surviving in the wild, so live at Kaarakin as active ambassadors for their species.
  • Spy the emus. There’s some other free roaming birds that you might see too, including ducks, guinea fowl and peacocks.
  • Visit the kangaroos. They might come for a nibble too if you’re lucky.
  • See Australia’s apex land predator the dingo. Discover how they’re different from dogs and are vital to our ecosystem.
  • Come inside Jack’s Interactive Aviary to get up close to our resident black cockatoos*. These cockatoos are curious, gentle and friendly. You can hand feed them some gumnuts. Be ready to be used as a perch!

The tour runs for roughly 75 minutes as a gentle walk with several stops.

Add a dingo encounter to personally meet a furry friend too if you like.

Bring family and friends as a group of up to 10 people for $200.

Extra people can be added upon request for $20 per person after 10.

To book your tour, please send a request below. We run private tours all year round including weekdays and weekends. We recommend tours in the earlier morning or mid-late afternoon, as that is when the birds are more active. (They like to rest during the middle of the day heat). We’ll reply by email to confirm your booking.

Bookings are essential.

Close Encounters

Get up close with our resident black cockatoos and/or dingoes – your choice.

Black Cockatoo Encounter

If coming for a public tour or private tour, then you’ll already get to go into our interactive aviary* with resident black cockatoos for ~15 minutes. If you’ve already been on a tour before, then a black cockatoo encounter is perfect for simply catching up with feathered friends.

Dingo Encounter

Our usual tours at Kaarakin includes seeing the dingoes, and occasionally a brief interaction if you’re lucky at the right time. Booking a dingo encounter is an easy add on to your tour for some sure furry feels, or book a dingo encounter on it’s own. You’ll meet them on their harnesses or go inside a landscaped pen with a guide who’ll help coach you in dingo etiquette.

Encounters are $50 per person for a 30 minute session.

If you make a new friend, consider sponsoring via their adoption certificate. If you already have one, remember to say “Hi!” in person!
