How to visit Kaarakin

Discover our black cockatoo Sanctuary in Perth

Are you interested in visiting Kaarakin?! Then this page is for you. However, hold your car keys and we’ll explain to you how you can visit our Kaarakin black cockatoo sanctuary. We are located in the beautiful Perth Hills, Perth, Western Australia, just 30 km away from Perth CBD and whilst we love visitors, all visits to Kaarakin are strictly by appointment only. Please read the following to book a visit.

You can visit Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre by booking a private tour, an encounter, coming on one of our tour weekends, organising a school visit, or organising a corporate volunteering day. Our tours are for people of all ages; please bring your family and friends!

  • Kaarakin Tour Weekends are organised twice a year, generally in May and October. Tickets are $15 Adults, $8 Kids (6-15 yrs), $45 Family (2 adults, 3 kids). Approximately two months before the open tour weekend, we will start advertising on our website, social media channels and we’ll send out an email newsletter. Bookings are essential with tours departing every half hours between 8 am and 11:30 am.

Please note that we cannot admit people to our black cockatoo sanctuary if they have not booked, whether on a tour, a school visit or to volunteer. Our Black Cockatoo rescue and conservation centre is a very busy sanctuary and we unfortunately don’t have the resources to accompany guests without prior arrangement.
